Andrea King Collier,- - Health Power Nutrition Editor; Journalist; Food and Society Policy Fellow; W.K. Kellogg Foundation; Co-author, Black Woman's Guide to Black Men's Health.
King Collier's work has appeared in the Washington Post and New York Times, and appears regularly in Essence, Woman's Day, O - Oprah Magazine, National Medical Association Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, AARP Magazine, and other media. In addition, she has written about health policy as it affects communities of color in 'white papers' for the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  Her work and experiences have made her an in-demand national speaker on health and health disparities.
 
King Collier is a board member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.  She is a graduate of Indiana University with degrees in Journalism and Political Science, and a former medical journalism fellow through the National Press Foundation at the National Cancer Institute. 


M. Natalie Achong, M.D., FACOG,- - - Editor, Health Power Women's Health Channel; Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Yale University School of Medicine.
Past Clinical Associate Professor, University of Connecticut, School of Medicine.  A certified obstetrician/gynecologist, her focus is on Women's Health, especially empowerment of women and families through health information and education.
 
A member of the Board of Trustees of the National Medical Association, she is Chairperson of its Public Affairs Committee and a member of its Council on Concerns of Women Physicians.  She has an interest in medi and related experience includes:  featured columnist, Ask Dr. Natalie for Lifetime Magazine, which reached over seven million readers, and being featured in both Prevention and Essence magazines. She has also lectured widely on consumer-oriented issues such as intimate partner violence, wellness and fitness and health disparities.
 
Dr. Achong earned her M.D. degree from New York University School of Medicine, and did her specialty training at Yale University School of Medicine.  She has received numerous awards.


Billie Wright Adams, M.D.,Editor, Health Power Infant and Child Health Channel; Past President, Chicago Pediatric Society
Coordinator, University of Illinois at Chicago's M-3 Clerkship in Pediatrics since 1980. Dr. Adams is also former Project Director of a federal Training Grant for Primary Care Pediatrics. Additional prior positions held include Acting Bureau Chief, Chicago Department of Health's Bureau of Community and Comprehensive Personal Health.

Additional prior leadership positions include Chairperson, Illinois Governor's Committee on Sickle Cell Anemia; President and Chairperson, Women in Pediatrics Committee, Illinois Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics. She earned her baccalaureate degree from Fisk University, and her M.D. degree from Howard University College of Medicine.



Sharon Allison-Ottey, M.D.,Editor, Health Power Aging Health Channel; Author, Speaker and Health Strategist (www.drsharononline.com) Executive Director, The COSHAR Foundation (Maryland)
Internal Medical and Geriatrics trained Director of Health Education and Community Initiatives at the COSHAR Foundation, based in Baltimore. She has been named Investigator of the Year by the American Geriatric Society for pioneering work on AIDS in the elderly, and her current research involves Health Literacy, Spirtuality and Direct to Consumer Advertising.
 
Dr. Allison-Ottey has taken health education to the airwaves with radio broadcasts and numerous other venues including print media, television, workshops, conferences and lectures.  She serves on several boards including Partnership for Clear Health Communication, and is a former member of the Board of Trustees, National Medical Association. Other leadership positions include membersip on the Minority Affairs Consortium of the American Medical Association.  She earned dual Bachelor's degrees from North Carolina Central University, and her MD degree from East Carolina University School of Medicine.


Lillian Beard, M.D., FAAP, - - - Editor, Health Power Teen & Parent Channels; National Spokesperson, American Academy of Pediatrics.
 Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Howard University College of Medicine. 
 
Dr. Beard is author of the popular book, Salt in Your Sock (2003), which is based on her varied pediatric practice. Her extensive media experience includes being a current National Spokesperson of the American Academy of Pediatrics, having a feature column in Good Housekeeping magazine, and being a guest expert on numerous radio and television programs including CBS Good Morning, and CNN.
 
She earned her Baccalaureate and M.D. degrees from Howard University.


Karen L. Bell, M.D., MAAN,- - - Editor, Aging Health Channel; Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology, Columbia Univ College of Physicians and Surgeons, Taub Institute for Alzheimer's Research and the Aging Brain.
Dr. Bell's Associate Clinical Professorship at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons is in the G.H. Sergievsky Center and the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer's Disease and the Aging Brain. She is also an Associate Attending Physician at New York Presbyterian Hospital, and Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Clinical Trials Group at Columbia University.

She is former Director of the Minority Recruitment Core for the National Institute of Aging-funded Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study, and is interested in achieving ethnic diversity in enrollment in Alzheimer’s disease clinical trials on a national level. She has developed physician and community education programs, and is Program Coordinator of Region 1 of the  National Medical Association.

Dr. Bell completed her undergraduate studies at New York University, her M.D. degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, served her internship at Harlem Hospital Center, and completed her Neurology residency and fellowship at Columbia University.


Valentine J. Burroughs, MD,- - - Editor, Men's Health Channel; Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs, St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, Delaware, Catholic Health East.
A Board certified endocrinologist and internist, specializing in metabolism, diabetes and other endocrinologic diseases; and former Chief Medical Officer, North General Hospital, NYC. He has served widely as a consultant to numerous professional organizations and corporations.
 
Leadership positions held in the National Medical Association (NMA) included Chair, Health Policy Committee of the Board of Trustees; Treasurer; Member, Board of Trustees; and President of both Manhattan Central Medical, and Empire State Medical Association (both NMA affiliates). He is also past President of the New York County Medical Society, an affiliate of the American Medical Association.  
 
Dr. Burroughs earned his B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of Michigan.


Clive O. Callender, M.D., F.A.,- - - Heath Power Advisor; Founder and Director, National Minority Organ and Tissue Transplantation Education Program.
On August 8, 1991, the New England Journal of Medicine, the nation’s premier journal for medical professionals, chronicled the 10-year experience of the first National Organ/Tissue Donor Program in the United States. Organized by Howard university Hospital, National Kidney Foundation/National Capital Area, and DOW Chemical Company, this collaboration led to the conceptualization and development of MOTTEP.

MOTTEP is the first national donor related organization to identify a two-fold solution to donor shortage: (1) increasing the number of minority donors, and (2) decreasing the number of persons who need transplants through a health promotion campaign aimed at preventing the need for transplantation. There are now 16 MOTTEP affiliates in cities throughout the United States, and one in the Virgin Islands.

Dr. Callender, Professor and Chairman, Department of Surgery, Howard University College of Medicine, earned his M.D. degree from Meharry Medical College, received his kidney transplant training at the University of Minnesota, and his liver transplant training at the University of Pittsburgh.


Cordelia Clapp, RN, BSN,- - - Editor; American Indian/Native American Channel; Spokesperson of the American Heart Association and National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, U.S. DHHS.
Ms. Clapp is also a national spokesperson of WomenHeart, a national coalition for women with heart disease based in Washington, DC. Related accomplishments of Cordelia Clapp include:

    * Preparation and presentation of multiple Power Point educational events related to improving the health of American Indians especially American Indian women, examples of which can be found in the Health Power American Indian/Native American Channel;
    * Presenter in numerous venues of Native American Sign Language for Our Lord's Prayer and God Bless America; and
    * a recipient of the AHA Louis B. Russell, Jr. Memorial Award, which is presented for outstanding and effective service to minority and underserved communities.

Ms. Clapp was the opening presenter, by invitation, at the national 2006 American Indian/Alaska Native Heritage Month event in Washington, D.C


Alwyn T. Cohall, M.D., FAAP,- - Advisor, Health Power Teen Channel; Associate Professor of Clinical Public Health & Clinical Pediatrics, School of Public Health and College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University
Director, Harlem Health Promotion Center, prior positions held include Consulting Physician at: Presbyterian Hospital, The Floating Hospital, and the Children's AID Society. Dr. Cohall has published extensively including a book, and chapters in five books. A participant in numerous broadcast programs, he received his baccalaureate degree from Wesleyan University, and M.D. degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.


Angela Diaz, M.D., M.P.H.,Health Power Advisor; Jean C. and James W. Crystal Professor of Pediatrics, Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Director of Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center.
Health Power Advisor on Adolescent/Teen Health, Dr. Diaz is also Director of Health Services, Children's Aid Society (NYC).

She has been involved in International Health projects in Asia, Central and South America, Europe and Africa. A former White House Fellow, Dr. Diaz was named one of New York Magazine's Best Doctors in New York in 2000 and 2002, and in 2001 she received the American Academy of Pediatrics Founders of Adolescent Health Award.

Dr. Diaz earned her M.D. degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.


Aida Luz Maisonet Giachello, Ph.D., - - Health Power Advisor; Associate Professor, College of Social Work and Founder & Executive Director, Midwest Latino Health Research, Training and Policy Center, University of Illinois at Chicago.
Under Dr. Giachello's leadership, the Midwest Latino Health Research Center has: developed diabetes curricula for community lay health workers (health promoters) and health providers with CDC support; conducted training across the nation and in Mexico, and Puerto Rico sponsored by the U.S HRSA; and with CDC support, established the National Center for Farmworkers Health, and Pan American Health Organization, among others. Through a CDC REACH 2010 grant, the center is now reducing diabetes disparities among African Americans and Latinos in seven Chicago communities. Dr. Giachello is also Co-PI of Redes En Acción Cancer Network, a National Cancer Institute funded project of Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Giachello earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Puerto Rico; her Masters' degree from the University of Chicago; and, her Ph.D. in Medical Sociology from the University of Chicago (Health and Ethnicity).


Yvonne J. Graham, R.N., M.P.H., - - - Editor, Health Power Caribbean Health Channel; Founder and Past Executive Director, Carribean Women's Health Association
Deputy Borough President of Brooklyn where her areas of responsibility include borough-wide health policy issues, Yvonne Graham is a pioneer in public health. She founded, and served as was Executive Director of the Caribbean Women's Health Association (CWHA) from 1982 to 2001. CWHA provides comprehensive, culturally sensitive healthcare, immigration and social support services to a diverse clientele of more than 30,000.
 
In the capacity of Deputy Borough President of Brooklyn, a position assumed in 2001, in addition to overseeing health care policy, she is the Borough President's primary representative and key advisor on immigration and general welfare issues. 
 
A Registered Nurse, Yvonne Graham earned her baccalaureate degree from St. Joseph's College (NYC).


Monair J. Hamilton, Ph.D., MPH, CHES, Editor of the Health Power Preventive Health Channel; Director, Training and Technical Assistance, University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center
 Dr. Hamilton's work primarily focuses on building capacity within the 100 counties of North Carolina to engage in evidence-based cancer prevention and control practices; thus increasing knowledge about and participation in cancer prevention research opportunities across higher education, health care, public health and community organizations.
 
A certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), she has taught in the field of Health Education and Promotion on the college level for nearly 10 years, and has been awarded for her leadership and service by numerous professional, civic and community organizations.  Dr. Hamilton has been an invited speaker at numerous events including consecutive American Heart Association Conferences.  Her primary areas of expertise include:  health disparities in minority populations, cultural competence and health education.
 
Dr. Hamilton earned her B.S. degree in Community Health Education from York College (CUNY), her MPH degree from Hunter College (CUNY), and her Ph.D. in Health Education and Promotion from Kent State University, Ohio.
 


Brenda Lee Huerta, - - - Editor, Health Power Hispanic/Latino Channel; News/Community Relations Director and Univision.com Site Manager, Univision Radio
A native Texan from the Lubbock area, her background is in media and politics, beginning with radio at the age of 5 and television and politics in her teens. Ms. Huerta has continued her ties to television, radio, and the print media throughout her life, even when she worked in government in different capacities, including work with a U.S. Senator, a Texas Governor and the Texas Legislature.

Huerta, News/Community Relations Director and Univision.com Site Manager with Univision Radio, has received awards from the Associated Press, AP Managing Editors, Dallas Press Club, Texas Association of Broadcasters, National Association of Broadcasters, federal and state officials, and numerous non-profit organizations. She serves on numerous local, state and national boards and commissions.

In spite of her very busy schedule, she devotes her free time to golf, ceramics, quilting, reading and sleep.


Robert L. Johnson, M.D., FAAP, Dean; Professor and Chair, Pediatrics/Psychiatry; Director, Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine, New Jersey Medical School, University of Medicine and Denistry of N.J.
Research focus on adolescent physical and mental health, adolescent violence, adolescent fatherhood and risk prevention, and reduction programs emphasizing substance and alcohol abuse, sexually and sexual dysfunction.
 
A Fellow of the American Academy of Medicine, Dr. Johnson serves on the Board of Health Care Services, and the Board of Law and Justice of the National Academy of Sciences.
 
He is also Author of "Strength for Their Journey", and "The Race Trap".


Walretta O. Jones, M.A., RD, CDN,- - - Editor, Health Power Food & Fitness Channel; Past President, New York Chapter of American Dietetic Association; Adjunct Professor in Nutrition and Food Science, Hunter College

Kenton K. Kirby,- - - Health Power Editor, Caribbean Channel; Editor-in-Chief, Caribbean Life
Caribbean Life newspaper is a New York City weekly with a readership of over 300,000. Born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, prior journalism positions held by Kenton Kirby include Chief Reporter of The Vincentian, the major newspaper in his home country, and correspondent for: Caribbean News Agency, UPI, Radio Barbados and Radio Antilles.

From 1990 to 1995 Kirby worked in the New York City Department of Health as a Community Liaison Worker and Public Information Specialist. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications from the University of the West Indies, and an Advance Degree in Journalism from the International Institute for Journalism in Berlin.

 



B. Waine Kong, Ph.D., J.D.,- - - Editor and Advisor, Health Power Spiritual Health Channel; Executive Vice President, Heart Institute of the Caribbean, and President of its Foundation
Dr. Kong, former CEO, Association of Black Cardiologists, is also an educational psychologist, and attorney. Through an NIH grant, he pioneered the organization of churches and barber shops as high blood pressure control centers, and received wide recognition for this work. He has published widely, and has made presentations in Egypt, Jamaica, the Virgin Islands, Soviet Union, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Kenya and Israel. 
 
Dr. Kong earned his Ph.D. degree from Walden University, his M.A. degree from American University, and his J.D. degree from Dickinson School of Law


William B. Lawson, M.D., Ph.D., DFAPA,- - -Editor, Health Power Mental Health Channel; Professor and Chair, Department of Psychiatry; Howard University College of Medicine
Prior positions include Chief, Mental Health, Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, Indianapolis; Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Indiana Unversity School of Medicine; and Chair, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Section, National Medical Association.

Erme C. Maula, R.N., MSN,- - - Co-Editor of Health Power Asian-Pacific Islander Channel; Advance Practice Community Health Nurse
Consultant to the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, coordinating HIV/AIDS programs and ensuring that people have access to culturally and linguistically appropriate health care. Other specialty areas are maternal and child care, women's health, and community health.

An active advocate for the visibility of Asian and Pacific Islander communities, Ms. Maula is Chair of both the East Coast Asian AIDS Network, and the Asian and Pacific Islander Women's HIV/AIDS National Network. She is also a doctoral student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing.

 



Conchita Mendoza, M.D., F.A.C.P., - - - Editor, Health Power Aging Health Channel; Chief of Geriatrics, Long Island College of Medicine Department of Medicine
In addition to directing the Division of Geriatrics at Long Island College of Medicine, Dr. Mendoza is Clinical Assistant Professor, College of Medicine at State University of New York, Health Science Center at Brooklyn. Prior positions held by her include Medical Director of Ambulatory Care, Gouverneur Diagnostic and Treatment Center of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. Dr. Mendoza is Board certified in both internal medicine and geriatric medicine.

Extensive civic activities have included Member, MADRE, leading 4 Medical Team trips to Nicaragua and 1 Medical Team trip to San Salvador; Member, Board of Directors of the Committee for Hispanic Families and Children; Members, Hispanic AIDS Forum.

Professional memberships have included Fellow, American College of Physicians; Member, Executive Committee, and Latino Caucus of American Public Health Association;  Member, Commissioned Corps., U.S. Public Health Service

Dr. Mendoza received her B.A. degree from Manhattanville College, and her M.D. degree from Boston University School of Medicine.


Wendell A. Moore,- - - Health Power Advisor on Teen Issues; Adolescent Health Specialist.
Wendell Moore is former Director of an Adolescent Theatre Company which was conceptualized and established by Health Power's President, and jointly funded by four years by the New York State and New York City Departments of Health. Moore is also former Director of HIV Prevention Education at Safe Space, Inc., a 300 staff New York City non-profit organization providing services to teenagers, and Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Our Voices, Safe Space's risk reducing newsletter. In addition, he was also the organizaton's Artistic Director of its Arts Academy.  
Key among Moore's numerous consultancies were Life Skills Trainer of the National Football League (NFL) and Youth Speak Out Conference Moderator of Hunter College, City University of New York.  He also has broad expertise in the computer field as well as in video-production, curriculum development, and creative writing.
 
Moore received his BA degree in Journalism and Communication from the City College of New York.


Javette C. Orgain, M.D., - - - Editor, Health Power African-American Channel; Past President, National Medical Association
Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine; Chair, African-American Health Care Council in Chicago; Co-Chair, Illinois State Board of Health; and Board member, Illinois Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Orgain was the 100th President of the National Medical Association (NMA). She has had extensive International Health experience including professional activities in China, South America, East, West and Southern Africa, the Caribbean, France, Cuba, and Laos. Her numerous honors include recognitions in Ebony and Black Enterprise magazines.

She earned her M.D. degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

 



Suki Terada Ports, AB, - - - Editor, Health Power Asian-Pacific Islander Channel; Founder and Executive Director, Family Health Project, Inc. (NYC).
Prior positins held include Co-Founder and Executive Director, Minority Task Force on AIDS; Co-Founder and/or Steering Committee member, National Minority AIDS Council, East Coast Asian and Pacific Islander Network, and Voices of Women of Color Against HIV/AIDS.  She is also a member, Board of Directors, Asian & Pacific Islanders Coalition on HIV/AIDS (APICHA), and Iris House.
 
Publicatons include "Learning Culture:  on Asian and Pacific Islander Populations", in U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration Journal on Innovations/Issues in HIV Service Delivery, Special Projects of National Significance, 1996. 
 
She earned her Baccalaureate degree from Smith College.


Robert G. Robinson, MSW, Dr.PH,- - - Health Power Editor, Smoking and Health, and Race, Culture and Health
Developer of the Pathways to Freedom (PTF) program. Because of PTF's national status as  the state-of-the-art tobacco control program for African Americans, it has been published by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and is distributed free on request. Dr. Robinson also spearheaded the coalition that defeated the introduction of UPTOWN cigarette, the first tobacco product produced and marketed specifically for African Americans.   
 
Dr Robinson is former Associate Director for Health Equity of the Office on Smoking and Health, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) - 1993 to 2006.  At CDC, Dr. Robinson developed national programs targeting the needs of communties of color, women, blue collar and agricultural workers, gays and lesbians, low income and youth.  He is a former Researcher at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, where he developed PTF. He has also developed policy and program initiatives for South America and Sub-Sahara Africa.
 
He was the first Chairperson of the African American Studies Program at Adelphi University, and focuses now on further understanding and knowledge of the underpinnings of race, community, and cultural competence, in order to help advance progress related to equity and social justice.
 
Dr. Robinson earned his BA degree from City University of New York, his MSW degree from Adelphi University, and his MPH and Dr. P.H. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley.


Elena Rios, M.D.,- - - Editor, Health Power Hispanic/Latino Channel; President & CEO, National Hispanic Medical Association
Dr. Rios is also CEO, Hispanic-serving Health Professions Schools, Inc, which organization is committed to improving the health care of Hispanics. She also serves on the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda; Board of the Partnership for Prevention; and as Co- Chair of the Hispanic Health Coalition.

Dr. Rios earned undergraduate degrees and an MS degree from Stanford University and UCLA School of Public Health, and her M.D. degree from UCLA School of Medicine. She then served an NIH fellowship focusing on access to care for minorities, and management skills among family practice physicians.

 



Martha Sanchez,- - - Editor, Health Power Hispanic/Latino Channel; Program Director for the Northern Manhattan Start Right Coaltion, Center for Population and Family Health, Mailman School of Public Health
As Director of the Northern Manhattan Start Right Coalition, Heilbrunn Center for Population and Family Health of the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, Martha Sanchez she oversees a major U.D. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded Reach 2010 Program. 
Prior positions held by her include Program Manager of the Northern Manhattan Perinatal Partnership, a Central Harlem Healthy Start Project; Assistant Project Director of the Natonal Development and Research Institute (NDRI); and Research Coordinator for AIDS Programs of the New York City Department of Health.  She is bilingual in English and Spanish. 
 
Sanchez earned her BA degree in Psychology from Lehman College, the City University of New York, and her MA degree in Health Education from Teacher's College, Columbia University.


Denese O. Shervington, M.D., FAFA, - - - Editor, Health Power Mental Health Channel; Director of Psychiatry, Harlem Hospital Center, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons
Prior positions held include Associate Professor and Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Meharry Medical College; Regional Medical Director, New Orleans Region, Louisiana Office of Mental Health; Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Associate Professor of Public Health, Louisiana State University Health Science Center; Deputy Assistant Secretary of Population Affairs, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

A graduate of New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Shervington completed her residency in Psychiatry at the University of California San Francisco, is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and received her MPH in Population Studies and Family Planning from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. She is the author of two books: SoulQuest, A Healing Journey For Women of the African Diaspora, (Random House); and Three Women (Silver Lion Press).

Donna Wang, M.D.,- - - Co-Editor, Health Power Asian Pacific Islander Channel.
Professor of Medicine, Director of Investigative Medicine and Vice Chair for Basic Research at Michigan State University. She has served on a variety of National Institutes of Health (NIH) advisory bodies, and on the editorial boards of such publications as Hypertension; Current Hypertension Reviews; American Journal of Physiology: Heart and Circulation; and the Journal of Cardiothoracic-Renal Research.

Dr. Wang's major volunteer activities for the American Heart Association include serving on its: Publication Committee; Science Advisory & Coordinating Committee; Women & Minorities Leadership Committee, as Chair; and Advocacy Coordinating Committee. In addition, Dr. Wang is President and Chairperson of the Board of the Academy of Cardiovascular Research Excellence.

The numerous past and present consultancies of Dr. Wang include The Council of Healthcare Advisers, and The Wellcome Trust. She earned her M.D. degree from Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences in Guangzhou, China.

 



Kathleen R. Watson, M.D., P.M.; Disability Consultant, - - - Editor, Fitness Branch of Health Power Food and Fitness Channel
After practicing Physiatry and Sports Medicine for 20 years, Dr. Watson is a Disability Consultant to a variety of insurance companies and other entities. Other prior experience includes Assistant Clinical Professor in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Representative clients for whom consultative services have been provided include Pan American Health Organization (PAHO); Chairperson, University of the West Indies Medical Alumni Association – Tri-State Chapter; Co-Chair, Task Force for Government Affairs, Academy of Pain Medicine; Chair, Medical Committee, International Hockey Federation. Recognitions include Listing in Connelly’s List of Best Doctors in New York – Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; and Recipient, International Hockey Federation Award.

Dr. Watson earned her MBBS (Medical) degree from the University of the West Indies.

 



Jayshree Winters, M.D., FAPA,- - - Editor, Health Power Mental Health Channel; Psychiatric Consultant at Ramapo Ridge Psychiatric Hospital, NJ.
Psychiatric Consultant and in the private practice of general psychiatry and psychoanalysis. Prior positions held include Supervising Psychiatrist, Rockland Psychiatric Center (NY); and Staff Psychiatrist at both County of Rockland, Orangetown Mental Health Center (NY), and Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center, Mental Health Center in White Plains, N.Y.

Dr. Winters has lectured extensively, conducted numerous workshops, and appeared on a variety of radio and TV programs. Representative community involvement includes Member, Board of Directors, Cancer Care of Ridgewood, NJ; and the Advisory Council Center for International Studies, Bergen Community College; Member, Asian Indian Women’s Association, Multi-Ethnic Task Force, Bergen County Department of Human Services; and Language Bank of Red Cross International. She has received numerous awards and citations including: Marquis Who’s Who in the East, Marquis Who’s Who in America, 2000 Women of Achievement (worldwide).

Dr. Winters earned her M.B.B.S. (Medical) degree from M.S. University, Baroda, India, completed her Psychiatry Residency, New York Medical College, and her Certification in Psychoanalysis from Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.

 



Wilma J. Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., AAFM,- - - Editor, Health Power Women's Health Channel; Health Officer, San Diego Office of Public Health
Dr. Wooten is former Chair, National Medical Association (NMA) Council on Concerns of Women Physicians; Chair, NMA Women's Health Section; Chair, Council on Concerns of Women Physicians; Chair, NMA Board of Trustees; and Past Chair, Region VI, NMA. She also directs the NMA's CDC funded national Diabetes Education Program.
 
Faculty positions held at the University of California at San Diego include Faculty Coordinator, Sports and Exercise, and Associate Clinical Professor of Family and Preventive Medicine. She has participated in medical missions in Ghana, Jamaica, and Kenya.
 
Dr. Wooten earned her BS degree from Spelman College, and her MPH and MD degrees from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.


Gerald Hoke, M.D., M.P.H.,- - - Editor, Health Power Men's Health Channel; Clinical Assistant Professor of Urology, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Harlem Hospital, New York, NY.
Dr. Hoke is also Chief of Urology at Harlem Hospital Center, NYC. Born in Harlem, he attended New York University and subsequently  received his M.D. degree from Cornell University Medical College. Following residency training at Downstate-Kings County Medical Center, he completed his urologic training at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, where he currently maintains a faculty appointment in the Department of Urology.  
 
Postgraduate training included an MPH degree Columbia University School of Public Health.  His clinical expertise is primarily in men's health issues, male and female sexual dysfunction, prostate diseases, and incontinence.  Dr. Hoke is a board-certified urologist, has authored numerous scientific publications, and been appointed to several prestigious committees including the New York State Prostate Cancer Task Force, and the American Urological Associations' Practice Parameters and Guidelines Subcommittee.  He has been named onee of the nations' top 100 physicians by Black Enterprise Magazine and one of the top 25 Black New York physicians by The Network Journal.
