- An article by Dr. Goodwin - entitled Eliminating
Health Disparities through a Nationally Unique Web Site, was published in the
October 2008 Inaugural issue of Columbia University’s online publication, Journal
on Equity in Health. The article was based on a presentation at Columbia
University by Dr. Goodwin in March 2007.
- Aetna’s 2008 African American Calendar
on Health Literacy featured Dr. Goodwin and Health Power.
- Aetna-Health Power Ad in Diversity Inc.
Magazine published in May 2006.
- Health Power and Dr. Goodwin cited in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, New York Amsterdam
News, October 24, 2007
- Chapter on African-American Women by Dr. Goodwin in the Textbook
of Women's Health was co-authored by Anjean B. Carter, and appears in
the section on Cultural & Socio-Economic Diversity in Women's Health.
The textbook Editor is Lila Wallis, M.D., and the book was published by Lippincott-Raven
in 1997.
- Dr. Goodwin addressed the House of Delegates of the Auxiliary to the National Medical
Association at the 2006 Annual Meeting of the Auxiliary.
- Dr. Goodwin was keynote speaker at a New York Business Group on Health Think Tank
on Diversity and Diabetes Control: From Health Disparities to Improved Health
Outcomes in November 2006. The title of her speech was From Health Disparities to Health Competency: Challenges
and Opportunities. (be patient while this loads)
- Dr. Goodwin was honored at the 19th Anniversary Celebration of Brooklyn Perinatal
Network. Co-awardees included New York State Assemblyman Richard Gottfried, JP Morgan
Chase and Co., and the William J. Clinton Foundation, 2006.
- Article entitled From Black Heritage to Black Health, was contributed
to Positive Community Magazine's Black History Month Issue, February
2006.
- Dr. Goodwin spoke at the United Nations (UN) on Women,
Leadership and Decision-making in Health on March 3, 2006 at the Annual
Conference of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, co-sponsored by Delta Sigma
Theta Sorority.
- Health Power's President coordinated, spoke at, or moderated a session
of the Region I National Medical Association Meeting HIV/AIDS,
and Teen Health. The meetings were held alternately in: St. Thomas, V.I. | Jamaica,
West Indies | St. Marteen, Netherlands Antilles.
- Health Power Targeted Depression and Stigma
to Increase Mental Health through a 2005 GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Grant
- Dr. Goodwin spoke at the United Nations (UN) on Women,
Race, Health Care Access and Quality of Care in March 2, 2005 at the Annual
Conference of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, co-sponsored by the National
Council of Negro Women.
- Dr. Goodwin received the American Heart Association's Women with Heart Award. The
other recipients were: Karen L. Katen, President of Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals,
Martine Reardon, Executive Vice President of Macy’s East, and Dr. Judith Shapiro,
President of Barnard College.
- AETNA & Health Power Teamed Up to Address
Disparities in Minority Health Care through a Web Site Enhancement Grant in 2004.
- Health Power Luncheon Unveiled Web Site For Minority
Health At National Medical Association Convention, August 2003.
